香港報業公會舉辦香港最佳新聞獎，多年來一直嘉許新聞工作者的傑出表現，提升業界的專業水平。

香港是資訊發達的國際大都會，快速、準確、客觀而全面的新聞資訊，有助大眾掌握本地、內地和世界的最新發展。蓬勃發展的傳媒對推動經濟發展，促進社會進步，提升國際競爭力，貢獻良多。這是香港以至全球主要城市的重要標記。

過去一年，儘管香港社會仍受疫情影響，但新聞工作者仍然堅守崗位，提供客觀詳實的報道，深入精闢的分析。我祝賀每一位2021年香港最佳新聞獎的獲獎人士，並鼓勵你們繼續秉持專業精神和新聞道德，報道優質新聞，精益求精。

今年是香港特區成立25周年的重要里程碑，未來五年是香港由亂及治到治及興的關鍵時刻。我寄語新聞業界善用其傳播力和影響力，共同努力為香港譜寫更精彩的新篇章。

Organised by the Newspaper Society of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong News Award honours media workers with excellent performance over the years, with a view to enhancing the professional standard of the industry.

In a metropolitan city with fast-pacing information flow like Hong Kong, dissemination of accurate, objective and comprehensive news and information in a speedy manner helps the public to gain a full understanding of latest developments in Hong Kong, the Mainland and the world. A vibrant media scene makes enormous contributions to economic and social developments as well as enhancing international competitiveness. This is a prominent mark for not only Hong Kong but also other major cities in the world.

In the past year, despite the daunting challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, media workers continued to hold fast to their duties by turning out objective reporting and insightful analysis, informing, educating and entertaining their readers. May I extend my congratulations to every winner of the Hong Kong News Award 2021. I encourage you to upkeep your professionalism and news ethics as always in reporting quality news stories and striving for excellence.

This year marks a significant milestone of the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Over the next five years, as Hong Kong returns to stability and prosperity after a time of volatility, I look upon the media industry for making the best use of its transmissibility and influence in composing a new and fascinating chapter for Hong Kong together.
