　　衷心祝賀2013年香港最佳新聞獎各得獎者。

　　設立香港最佳新聞獎，旨在表揚業內人士在各專責範疇取得的傑出成就，以及鼓勵和推動新聞工作者精益求精，以公正持平、發人省思的手法報道時事。

　　傳媒一直肩負重任，通過言之有物、實事求是的分析，使市民大眾得知並了解政府政策。政府亦倚靠傳媒機構反映社會各界意見，在制訂公共政策時加以考慮。本年度各得獎者不但在新聞報道方面達到卓越的專業水平，而且堅守負責任的新聞工作者應有 的信念，殊堪嘉許。

　　傳媒自由是香港社會的核心價值。政府會繼續保持本港媒體環境不受干預，以鼓勵各方踴躍交流意見，使香港能續享自由開放經濟體的美譽，並擔當中國內地的「首席知識官」，加強本港的國際競爭優勢。

　　香港報業公會一向致力提升新聞報道質素和推動專業協作，並就關乎新聞業的立法建議向政府反映業內人士意見，謹此衷心致謝。

　　謹祝2013年香港最佳新聞獎各得獎者竿頭日進，再創佳績。

Message from the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

　　My warmest congratulations to all the winners of the Hong Kong News Awards 2013.

　　The Hong Kong News Awards recognize high quality journalism in various specialist fields of the profession. They also serve as an inspiration and motivation for journalists to strive for ever higher standards in the fair, balanced and thought-provoking reporting of current affairs.

　　The media has always played a vital role in conveying and explaining Government policy to the public by providing meaningful and factual analysis of various initiatives. The Government also depends on media organizations to reflect the views of people from all sectors of our community when formulating public policies. I commend this year’s awardees on their professional excellence, not just in reporting the news but also in upholding the values of responsible journalism.

　　The Government will continue to promote a free and unfettered media environment as a core value of our society to encourage a vibrant exchange of ideas, strengthen our proud reputation as a free and open economy and enhance Hong Kong’s international competitive advantage as the “Chief Information Officer” for the Mainland of China.

　　I also thank the Newspaper Society of Hong Kong for its commitment to promoting high-quality journalism and professional co-operation as well as communicating industry views to the Government on relevant legislative proposals past and present.

　　I wish all the winners of the Hong Kong News Awards 2013 continued success in the years to come.
