傳媒市場的生態持續演變，在數位化迅速發展的時代，人工智能（AI）正以前所未有的來勢影響新聞的生產和傳送方式，也改變了受眾的需求和期望。業界須更好地利用AI技術分析數據了解讀者的偏好，並根據受眾的反饋靈活調整策略，以適應市場新面貌，當然，從業員的專業智慧始終仍是核心。 

AI技術能夠自動撰寫新聞報道，特別是在數據驅動的內容領域。這不僅提高了新聞內容的生產效率，且可讓記者把更多精力投入到更具深度和創意的報道中，從而提升整體質量。但同時，假新聞的問題日益嚴重，對公眾的認知與判斷難免造成困擾。作為新聞工作者，我們肩負責任確保所報道的內容可靠，當中不能僅僅依賴技術來篩選信息，更需秉持編輯倫理和事實查核機制，以維護新聞的公信力。 

總的來說，新聞媒體對社會發展具有深遠的意義，幫助公眾接收真實信息，了解時勢，在資訊傳遞、文化傳承等方面發揮不可替代的價值，對於促進社會進步至關重要。面對快速變化的環境，新聞工作者需不忘加強競爭力、專業性及可持續發展的能力。未來傳媒行業將利用甚或依賴更多創新技術和數據分析，過程中，維繫新聞質量乃是每一位新聞工作者的重要使命。 

2024年度「香港最佳新聞獎」的參賽作品水準相當高，反映各報章不懈精益求精。在此，我謹代表香港報業公會感謝社會各界支持，尤其是所有評審委員及各家贊助機構。衷心祝賀2024年度最佳新聞獎的得獎者，更要感謝新聞界同業對專業的付出和努力。展望未來，香港報業公會定必繼續恪守本分，推動香港報業發展更上一層樓。

The media market ecosystem continues to evolve. In an era of rapid digital development, artificial intelligence (AI) is influencing the production and delivery of news in unprecedented ways, while also reshaping audiences' demands and expectations of news content. The industry must effectively leverage AI technology to analyse data and better understand audience behaviour, while also adjusting strategies flexibly based on audience feedback to adapt to the evolving market landscape. Moreover, the professional expertise of practitioners remains essential. 

AI can automatically generate news reports, especially for data-driven content. This improves production efficiency and allows journalists to focus more on in-depth and creative reporting, enhancing overall quality. However, the rise of fake news poses a serious challenge, leading to public confusion. As journalists, we have a responsibility to ensure that our reports are reliable. We cannot rely solely on technology for information filtering; we must also maintain editorial ethics and robust fact-checking processes to uphold the credibility of the news. 

In summary, the news media play a crucial role in societal development by providing the public with accurate information and insights into current events. They are invaluable in disseminating information and preserving culture, both of which are essential for social progress. To adapt to the rapidly changing environment, journalists must enhance their competitiveness, professionalism, and sustainable development skills. The future media industry will increasingly rely on innovative technologies and data analysis. Throughout this evolution, maintaining high-quality news remains a key mission for every journalist. 

The entries for the 2024 Hong Kong News Awards demonstrate a high standard of quality, showcasing newspapers' commitment to excellence. On behalf of the Newspaper Society of Hong Kong, I extend my gratitude to all sectors of society, especially the judging panels and our sponsoring organisations. Congratulations to all the award winners! I also want to thank all journalists for their dedication to the industry. Moving forward, the Newspaper Society of Hong Kong will continue to uphold its mission to enhance professional standards and elevate the industry to new heights.
