韶光荏苒，今年是本會成立70周年，見證社會不同時代的變遷及報業的演進。回望過去，業界經歷了無數的挑戰和轉變，憑藉不懈的努力和堅持，由紙媒世界邁進多媒體生態。在新形勢下，報業機構運用自身的優勢，將創新理念與新聞傳播精神融入媒體運營各環節，向社會高效傳遞資訊及觀點。

隨着媒體的發展和社交媒體的興起，大眾獲取新聞資訊的習慣亦有所變化。為更好地滿足受眾的需求，新聞短視頻成為了報業的一個重要組成部分，提供更迅速、生動和多元的表達方式，擴大了報業的覆蓋範圍。為嘉許同業對自身的傳播內容和傳播機制與時並進，自2023年度起，「香港最佳新聞獎」新增《最佳新聞短視頻》獎項，以鼓勵出色的記者。

傳媒的角色和影響力在這個訊息爆炸、真假難辨的時代更加重要。主流報業一直秉持求真精神，尊重事實，捍衛真理，盡應該盡的社會責任，提供有質量的內容。當然，業界須不斷自我完善，掌握利用新的技術和工具，以配合受眾的閱讀習慣。

2023年度「香港最佳新聞獎」的參賽作品水準甚高，能夠脫穎而出的皆十分卓越。在此，我謹代表香港報業公會感謝社會各界支持，尤其是所有評審委員及各家贊助機構，並衷心祝賀2023年度最佳新聞獎的得獎者，繼續加油精益求精。展望未來，期望各位同行能在創新大氣候中堅守專業，在改變中尋求突破。香港報業公會定必恪守使命，推動報業繼往開來。

Time flies. This year we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Newspaper Society of Hong Kong. Through the years, we have witnessed numerous changes and faced various challenges, all which have contributed to the evolution of our industry. Through unwavering effort and perseverance, our industry has undergone a transformation as it embraces a multimedia ecosystem. In response to this trend, media organisations are capitalizing on their strengths to efficiently deliver information and opinion by inte grating innovation and the spirit of journalism.

With the development of digital media and the rise of social media, the way the public consumes information has changed. Short news videos have become an essential component of the industry, providing infor mation in a faster and more engaging manner. These short videos have also ex pan ded the reach and coverage of the industry to better meet the needs of its readers or as some may prefer audience. Recognizing the adaptation of both the  content and mechani sm of news dissemination, the Hong Kong News Awards has introduce d the Best Short News
Video Award to honour outstanding correspondents in this domain.

The role and influence of the media has become increasingly important in an age of information overload, where authenticity is increasingly harder to discern. Mainstream newspapers have long been committed to accuracy, upholding the facts and defending the truth, fulfilling our obligation to provide quality content. It goes without saying that we must cons tantly improve ourselves and master our tools in order to adapt to the reading habits of the public.

The quality of all the entries for the Hong Kong News Awards 2023 was outstanding, with some truly exceptional submissions. On behalf of the Society, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support, especially our judges and our sponsors. I would also like to congratulate all the winners of this year's awards for their outstanding efforts.

As we look ahead, it is my hope that we remain steadfast in upholding professionalism and nurturing innovation. The Society will remain true to our mission, leading the way in promoting outstanding journalism and ensur ing that our legacy of excellence continues to inspire.
