　　現今通訊科技發展一日千里，聯繫網絡縱橫交錯又不受時空限制，為新聞從業員帶來巨大挑戰。要做到新聞捷報並不困難，但要兼顧內容真確卻非易事。喜見業界不乏精英，秉持探實求真的專業操守，不辭勞苦奔波走訪，務求報道全面、分析透徹。

　　本屆「香港最佳新聞獎」各得獎者及機構，均充分體現克勤敬業、嚴謹驗證的精神，謹此衷心致賀。

　　As an international business and financial centre, Hong Kong must keep abreast of the latest developments in the ever-changing global political and economic arenas.

　　With the rapid advances in technology, the internet and a wide range of communications networks can easily transcend geographical boundaries and international time zones. This has brought enormous challenges to the men and women in the news industry whose reputation depends not only on the speed of news reporting but, more importantly, on its accuracy. I am pleased that many of our most influential journalists and news organisations go the extra mile in uploading the highest professional standards in their quest for the truth. They bring us comprehensive reports as well as in-depth analysis.
